Ayurvedic Classes


We are proud to offer live Ayurvedic class instruction.  All classes are based on traditional Ayurvedic teachings. Most classes qualify for continuing education credit for healthcare professionals. 

Popular with Yoga students, massage practitioners, and natural medicine followers, you will learn simple, easy tips for staying healthy and treating common diseases. Learn about your Ayurvedic body type, foods to avoid and foods to embrace, and find a new direction for a happier, healthier life. 

We also offer free introductory Ayurveda classes to interested groups. These free classes give a quick glimpse of what Ayurveda is and has to offer. For a free class at your location please contact us.

Certificate Classes

All students currently enrolled in a certificate class receive     $ 75.00 off the regular price of an Ayurvedic wellness consultation.

AY 101 Introduction to Ayurveda

 This course is designed for students who are new to Ayurveda and gives an overall view of the many aspects of Vedic Medical science. Each class includes a brief practice consultation so the student may see how Ayurvedic principles can be applied. Class meets for two hours, once per week, for 6 weeks. Certificate presented upon completion. Topics covered include

Five Element Theory

Tri Dosha (the three body energies)

Tri Guna (the three emotional types)

Disease Prevention (nutrition, daily routine, seasonal routine, ama/toxins)

Diagnosis (pulse, tongue, eye, eight fold examination)

Ayurvedic Physiology and Pathology

Treatment (herbs, massage, yoga, marma, acupuncture, pancha karma)

Ayurvedic Medical Astrology

Vedic Building Design for Health

AY 201 Ayurvedic Diagnosis and Treatment

This course is designed for the student who has a basic knowledge of  Ayurvedic principles. Proper diagnosis is the key to treating any disease. The course focus is on clinical diagnosis and treatment with students observing detailed Ayurvedic consultations in each session. Students will learn to identify causative factors in the disease process based on Ayurvedic principles and prepare an effective treatment plan. Study of specific diseases will also be covered. Class meets for four hours, once per week, for 10 weeks. Certificate presented upon completion.

The instructor, David Freedman, is a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and has studied Oriental medicine for over 20 years including Ayurveda, Chinese and Tibetan medicine, Vedic medical astrology, and medical Yoga. He is a graduate of the AYU Ayurvedic Academy (2002) directed by Dr. Vivek Shanbhag where he studied under traditionally trained Ayurvedic physicians and surgeons. He has continued postgraduate studies with leading Ayurvedic physicians and teachers including Dr. Subhash Ranade, Dr. Sunanda Ranade, Dr. Avinash Lele, Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar, Dr. Manisha Kshirsagar, and Dr. Jayarajan Kodikannath. He has been an Ayurvedic medicine instructor at Bastyr University, and an advisor and teaching assistant at Kerala Ayurveda Academy. David is currently an Ayurvedic instructor at Shoreline Community College, Everett Community College, North Seattle Community College, and Lake Washington Institute of Technology. He is the director of the Center for Vedic Medicine located in Bothell, Washington, USA, where he is an Ayurvedic medicine instructor in addition to performing client wellness consultations with a specialization in digestive and skin disorders. He is a member of the Washington State Ayurvedic Medical Association, and is the editor and contributor to the book Ayurvedic Massage Therapy.
